You will see the GlassFish startup messages in the command prompt window, as shown in Figure 1-8.

There s also likely to be a box that lets you join the group. If you aren t registered and logged in to Meetup, the box looks like Figure 15-19.

Once GlassFish has been successfully started, you can test whether the server is able to accept the basic HTTP requests. To do so, open a browser, type in the URL http:// localhost:8080/, and you will be able to see the page shown in Figure 1-9 if the server is up and running.

In this page we do not have to explicitly set any variables because that is done for us by Seam through injection of the variables labeled by the annotations. Additionally, we are already in our business object, so there is no need to call anything else except maybe a database. Not only does the code look cleaner now, but we do not have to worry about the HttpRequest and HttpSession data explicitly; it is handled behind the scenes by Seam.
