Even for those who are experienced developers, this chapter should have started to show you the ease that Seam brings you in designing web applications. Of course, you are going to have to wait a few more chapters before diving into full Seam development. I still need to go over the fundamentals of JSF and EJB3 to prepare you to use Seam. I also briefly discussed the applications we are going to create. These three applications form the backbone of our examples in later chapters. These examples each represent different levels of complexity. I will refer to these in later chapters, so you may want to at least take note of the database diagrams for them.

Regarding Oracle, we will assume that you have it available somewhere in your network, as explaining how to install it would yield another book in itself. We do provide a set of scripts for creating and resetting the tables and associated data required for the performance test. These scripts can be found in the download package as a zipped file in the sqlscripts directory. We installed these scripts on the Oracle machine, in the D: drive, under the ejb3book\sqlscripts directory. From there, we start SQL*Plus and then execute the reset script, as shown in Figure 9-8.

When you execute this script, you will see a lot of lines scrolling in the window, some of them displaying messages such as table altered and 1 row created. At the end, you will see Commit complete and the SQL*Plus prompt SQL>. This means that the database reset is complete.
