With an alpha of 1.0, the drawn color is 100 percent opaque and obscures any colors beneath it. With any value less than 1.0, the colors below will show through and mix. When an alpha component is used, the color model is sometimes referred to as the RGBA color model, although technically speaking, the alpha isn t really part of the color; it just defines how the color will interact with other colors when it is drawn. This is another example of an Objective-C class (UIImage) that you can use as an alternative to working with a Core Graphics data structure (CGImage).
